  • Marketing and Communications Information includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and your communication preferences.

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect your personal information in order to:

  • make an appointment to receive osteopathic treatment
  • send you text reminders or communicate with you about your appointment
  • provide osteopathic services to you
  • send personalised information to you about your treatment
  • send newsletters and email updates about clinic related information
  • give ACC details of your ACC covered treatment
  • issue invoices or receipts
  • apply data analytics to improve our website, services and to measure the effectiveness of our communications and marketing
OPTING OUT OF MARKETING

You can ask to stop sending you marketing communications at any time by checking or unchecking relevant boxes to adjust your marketing preferences when you make a booking, or by following the opt-out links within any marketing communication sent to you or by contacting us using the Contact Details at clause 11 below.

If you opt out of receiving marketing communications, you will still receive service-related communications essential for administrative purposes for example relating to appointment reminders, updates to our Terms and Conditions, checking that your contact details are correct.

DISCLOSURES OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Besides the osteopath who is directly involved in your care, we share your personal information if we must do so by law and with:

  • our receptionists
  • ACC if your treatment is ACC covered or insurance providers
  • third party health professionals where you have provided express consent eg. if we are to refer you to have x-rays or to an orthopaedic specialist or your general practitioner
  • third party technology suppliers eg. online booking providers and cloud storage providers
  • Providing some information is optional. If you choose not to give us your medical history, we cannot give you osteopathic treatment, and we will communicate this to you.

    DATA SECURITY

    We keep your information safe by storing it using appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, changed or revealed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those involved in the provision of services to you and with a business to know.

    HOW LONG WILL YOU USE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR?

    We will only retain your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including to provide ongoing care, satisfying any legal, regulatory or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal information for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation regarding our relationship with you.

    YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

    You have several rights under privacy laws in relation to your personal information. You have the right to:

    Ask for access to your personal information. This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you for which we may require payment of a charge.

    Ask for correction of the personal information we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us. If we do not agree to correct the information, we will take such steps (if any) that are reasonable in the circumstances to make sure your correction request is attached to your personal information so it will always be read with the personal information you asked us to correct.

    You also have the absolute right to object any time to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing purposes (see Opting out of Marketing at clause 4 above for details of how to object to receiving direct marketing communications).

    Ask for the transfer of your personal information to you or to a third party. We will provide to you, or a third party you have chosen, your personal information in the format that we store it.
